Dormont Castle Playground

on September 19, 2013

We finally took a trip to the Dormont Castle Playground!  This is an awesome wooden playground with lot of charming details.

Dormont Caste Playground, Dormont Avenue, Dormont

Dormont Castle Playground

This playground features:

  • several slides, including a twisting slide and a tunnel slide where the tunnel part is made of wood
  • several bridges for all skill levels, including a tight-rope style bridge to test your balance across, a tire bridge to climb across, and traditional playground bridges, made of wood
  • lots of structures to climb on, climb through, hang from, and explore 🙂
  • two swing sets; one with four swings and a tire swing, one with three ingant swings
  • a semi-fenced in play area, with the fence along the busier street side
  • a large parking lot at the swimming pool that is a very short walk from the playground.

My thoughts on this playground:

  • My 8 month old got to swing, so he liked it!  5 out of 5 stars from him
  • My toddler liked exploring, but there were many features that were too mature for her.  There was enough for her to do, though, and lots for her to grow in to!  4 out of 5 stars from her.
  • I liked the different features of this playground.  There were several things here that we haven’t seen anywhere else, which I liked!  Plus a lot of the features were open to interpretation for how to play with them.  For example there are a bunch of tires that are connected together that you could potentially crawl through, climb on, swing on…I don’t even know what you’re SUPPOSED to do on them, but they looked like fun!  I liked that the play area was mostly enclosed, too.  I didn’t like that it wasn’t clear where to park, but once you figure that out you won’t have to worry about it again.  I give it 5 out of 5 stars for being a fun and novel playground!
