Rees Park, Peters Township

on August 30, 2013

Rees Park is near the end of Bebout Road in Venetia.  It’s a large park with many athletic fields and a small playground.  Like all the parks in Peters Township, it is modern, well-maintained, and fun for a morning or afternoon of play!

This playground features:

  • a climbing structure with a ramp and many different kinds of ladders
  • three slides (one twisting, one double, one curved)
  • a tic tac toe board
  • a tire swing
  • plenty of parking
  • full restroom facilities

My thoughts on this playground:

  • It didn’t have anything for my 8 month old, but had some shaded areas for his comfort.  He would give this playground 1 out of 5 stars for that!
  • My toddler enjoyed the ramp – it was sort of like a bridge for her that she didn’t have to climb to get to!  She also liked all the slides, as none were very high or intimidating.  Some of the ladders were above her skill level – she checked them out and moved on.  She really liked the tire swing and spent most of her time there.  She would probably give this playground 3 out of 5 stars, because it was fun but nothing was extra special about it.
  • I think this would be a nice play area for siblings while their brother or sisters plays on the many athletic fields at this park or for kids in the neighborhood.  I don’t know if it’s special enough to warrant its own trip, though.  I was a bit concerned about the location of the park; it’s very near the road, on a small hill, with a fence that kiddos could easily escape through.  This part of Peters Township has grown so quickly that I’m guessing the road wasn’t quite as busy when the park was built as it is today.  Otherwise, a nice, clean, fun playground!  I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.
